Picture this!!

I was at Hyderabad to visit dad just before he retired from service. Akka was with me and mom too. We were hardly there for 4 days and in the meanwhile we had to go see the 'Hyderabad Sisters' (yes the famous carnatic vocalists). We went, met, spoke to them too. I must say artists are rather fascinated by someone who’s had some academic achievement (*looks around* …. huh yaar naana? achievement did u say?). Anyway BE for example. But they never fail the sly question on wat kind of exposure we’ve had in music.

Lalita Aunty: Tht’s good …. so where next?
I: I’ll be workin in a few days and it’ll go on.
LA: Do u listen to music?
I: Ofcourse.
LA: I’m sure u listen to a lot of classical music. wat other kind do u prefer.
I: yes classical. and a lot of fusion music not unlike wat shakti are into.
LA: And English and film music?
I: Film music? chee and no not English either … never.
LA: Do u sing too?
(This question … hell!! annoys me I tell ya)
I: (Obviously!!) yes I do …. am planning to make it big as a musician, a vocalist.
LA: (pitiable look at my t-shirt).

LA: (I imagine ur one too).
I: (fuck!!) *Forceful smile*.

Wats more ….. I top it all by diving to all elders’ feet with the stupid t-shirt, and even chanting the ‘pravara’.

Music’s becoming food for comedy in my life. Fortune tellers predict something for me as a musician, but just cant see it coming. We’ll try some failure assessment here.

School: People dubbed me “Carmel Kogile”. Partly bcoz I was a mind-blowing awesome singer, and partly coz if they couldn’t see me sing they’d think a girl was singin.
Junior College: I keep my reputation going …. yeah no male voice yet. They started callin me ‘Rami’ for how funny tht sounds.
BE: Saw first the rays of ‘the deep male voice’.

Exactly the point I’ve been tryin to prove. It’s a sad story since then. No voice culture attempt and ppl still say ‘I don think u’ll ever reach the peak of high school alva’. Bloody fuck!! Even otherwise there’s more to all this …. for example here’s wat all my playlist has.
